Rotary and Rotaract Clubs Celebrate 20 and 15 Years of Giving Back to the Community
Rotary Club Bijeljina and Rotaract Club Bijeljina celebrated their milestones with friends and associates in a joyful gathering. Over the years, the clubs have donated over 300,000 euros to various community projects and initiatives, with a recent focus on education, health, and ecology. They also received a Global Grand project in the field of ecology, which will coordinate work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The anniversary celebration was attended by over 200 guests from three Rotary districts.
On March 4th, 2023, Rotary Club Bijeljina celebrated 20 years and Rotaract Club Bijeljina celebrated 15 years of existence together with their friends Rotarians, colleagues, friends, and associates in the ethno village "Stanišići" in Bijeljina. Since their beginnings, the work of Rotary and Rotaract Club Bijeljina was marked by numerous actions and initiatives that arose as a desire of their members to contribute and selflessly help the community in which they live.
"For the past 20 years, Rotary Club Bijeljina, together with Rotaract club Bijeljina has donated over 300,000 euros to the community and individuals through various projects. Especially lately, we have been based on education and scholarships for excellent and gifted high school students, as well as university students. We also had numerous projects in the field of health and ecology. We participated in the "Respirator for Republic of Srpska" action, where we donated 50,000 euros. That's when the first respirator was purchased for the Bijeljina Hospital. Then, we participated in equipping the Center for stroke diagnostics in the Bijeljina Hospital, acquiring mammograms for town Lopar, equipping libraries...", said Mirjana Orašanin, president of Rotary Club Bijeljina. They have received the Global Grand project in the field of ecology worth 190,000 dollars - let's clean the earth from plastic and waste.
"When we received the information that the Global grant project was accepter it was like a present for our anniversary. It is about a ship that will clean the surface layer of rivers from plastic and waste. It is an excellent project and we are proud that we are the initiators of the project related to the region from Triglav to Ohrid. Our Rotary Club is an ambassador for Bosnia and Herzegovina and will coordinate work throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. " said president Mirajan Orašanin.
The celebration was attended by over 200 guests from three Rotary districts - Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro and Croatia.
